Drug Rehab
Drug Rehab, I have been to a few in my time. Not for myself, my father was an alcoholic among other things. He was the abusive kind as well. Long story short, he walked out on us one day and we haven’t seen him since. I had a bout with a bad case of depression a few years ago, and it was then I think in finally understood my father. He turned to alcohol and drugs when there was nothing else that seemed to help or work. And when you take that road it’s almost impossible to come out of it. Every coping mechanism is extremely hard to change. It’s how we feel normal.
So from experience, drug rehab rarely works, or in my father’s case doesn’t work. Even a committed individual will have a difficult time completing a biased drug rehab program and remaining sober. The popular programs today aren’t designed to teach life changes, but to deny fault and accept God. I hate to be the one to break it to everyone, but addiction it not a “disease”. That’s just a scapegoat to deny responsibility. Drug and Alcoholism is as much a “disease” as being obese is a disease. Keep in mind that I have many hormone and medical problems, I am not negating the fact that obesity can be caused by uncontrollable factors, however my point stands that obesity is not a disease.
When you’re overweight you typically go on a diet; when it fails it’s not because you have an overweight disease. It’s because diets are doomed to fail, and inevitably gain all the weight back and then some. What’s necessary is a life change and to focus on the root of the problem in some cases. Some drug rehab programs do focus on those obstacles, but if being told it’s a “disease” or let to let God help you, your chances of recovery are the same as if you went cold turkey. One percent.
Do your research and ask alot of questions. Good Luck.
